Year 1 enjoyed exploring the great outdoors around school. They followed cryptic clues that led them to locations such as the tyres, the nursery garden and the carpark. This was a fantastic way for Year 1 students to learn and explore! They had a wonderful adventure!

Thank You for Joining Our First Reading Café! A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our very first Reading Café—it was such a lovely event! The children really enjoyed sharing stories and spending time reading with you. There was a wonderful buzz around the room as books were opened, imaginations sparked, and conversations flowed. It was a joy to see such enthusiasm for reading! We’re hoping to make this a regular event, and it would be fantastic to welcome even more of you next time. Keep an eye out for our summer term date—we’d love to see you there!
Pre-School- Literacy - Gross Motor Skills
In Literacy, the children designed their own baby chicks using a variety of paint colours and shaped marks. They practised large, sweeping movements—stretching their arms and using Write Dance techniques—to help build upper body strength. Linking to their previous learning on the life cycle of a chick, the children carefully considered the features their chick would need, such as the shape of its body, beak, and webbed feet.
Reception Class - Handwriting
Our Reception children have been busy developing their handwriting skills today! With the support of our teachers, they have been working hard on letter formation, pencil grip, and fine motor skills. Handwriting is an essential skill that builds confidence in early writing and supports overall literacy development. Through focused practice and encouragement, our young learners are making great progress. Well done, everyone—keep up the fantastic work!
Year 4 - English - Group Reading
Year 4 have been completing some group reading activities in English this week. We have worked together to identify similar features across a variety of texts and to create success criteria in preparation for our own writing of an informative text. We've even managed to find answers to questions from these texts and create questions for each other to answer!
Year 6 Grammar: To Build Cohesion Using Fronted Adverbials
This week during our grammar lessons, year 6 are focusing on being able to use fronted adverbials to build cohesion in their writing. They will be using this skill to write an explanation text about the Maya Civilisation in the coming weeks.
Year 2 - English - Persuasive Writing
In their English lesson, Year 2 identified the key features of persuasive letters. They successfully recognised and discussed elements like persuasive vocabulary, audience, emotive language and arguments within the letter.
Year 3 English - Writing A Description Of Villain
Working in pairs, Year 3 compared leisure activities across Tudor, Victorian, and modern eras, discovering that some historical games and activities remain popular today.
Year 4 English
Year 4 have been working hard this half-term in preparation for writing their very own nonfiction story and becoming real-life authors! They have edited, annotated and improved draft pieces of their writing to create a final version of text, that any reader will enjoy looking at. It was a hard task being an author, but the end result was definitely worth it - some fantastic stories have been created!
Year 6: English
In English, year 6 have been preparing to write their own detective story. Today they have focussed on writing a paragraph including: subordination, expanded noun phrases, dialogue and a range of punctuation. L.O. To write an effective description of a suspect.
Nursery - Literacy - Learning New Vocabulary Linked To Our Story
This week, Nursery class have been reading a new story called 'Grow it!'. This means we have been able to explore some new vocabulary! We discovered some tricky, unfamiliar worlds like 'compost' and 'trowel' among others. Understanding and being familiar with these words enables children to comprehend the story and conversations surrounding the events in our book. Nursery class have done really well copying and remembering the new vocabulary and have also been able to find the pictures linked to the new words in our book. Well done everyone.
Nursery - Computing - Exploring The Garden Centre
Linked with our spring story 'Grow it!', the children have been exploring the garden centre on purplemash. Understanding a tap and drag movement to place different items into the garden. The children discovered many different plants, mini beasts and equipment that we have been learning about this week and were given the opportunity to put their new vocabulary knowledge into practice. The children observed the effects that the watering can had on the bulbs and seeds, watching the flowers grow once they had been watered, this was definitely the favorite feature!
