Year 1 - Nativity Rehearsal
Year 1 have been working hard practising their parts in our production of Lights, Camel, Action! On Tuesday we had our first dress rehearsal in front of the whole school! I'm sure you'll agree they all look fabulous in their costumes.
Nursery - Computing - Navigating purple Mash. Create A Stocking
In Nursery class this week we have been looking at Christmas celebrations. To tie in with this, the children decorated their own stockings on purple mash. The children have been learning how to navigate the draw function on this website, understanding that they need to scroll to find the different colours and making the link between the colour selected and observing the change in colour of their marks. The children made marks on their stockings in different ways, some children made lines and movements with their finger to create marks and others decided to tap the screen to create dots. They made some beautiful stockings!
Pre-School-UTW-Investigating Frozen Penguins
This week we have been exploring all about penguins, we have learnt that penguins live in the south pole where it is cold and there is lots of ice around. We have then explored ice but our penguins were stuck inside and we discussed how we can get them out. We used our hands to warm up the ice and watched it melt to free the penguins.
Year 2 - Maths - Properties of 2D Shapes
In maths we have been developing our knowledge on 2D shapes. We have been counting the sides and the vertices. Then we made our own 2D shapes as part of an investigation.
Pre-School- Maths- Exploring Patterns
The children created different patterns with the building blocks. We worked out which colours were next in the sequence and continued to make the pattern.
Year 2 - English - Instructions
In Year 2 we have been writing our instructions for our invented playground games and started to plan our independent write on how to wash our hands.
Year 5 PSHE - Creating Christmas Crafts for Care Home Residents
In Year 5 we are celebrating the festive season with the joy of giving to others. We have made some beautiful Christmas decorations for a local care home, to bring some festive cheer to the elderly residents!
Year 5 R.E. - Sorting the Nativity Story into Matthew's Gospel and Luke's Gospel
In R.E we are learning about the Bible story of the Nativity. We have compared the story in the Bible to what we already know about the Christmas story, and found that some elements are in Matthew's Gospel (the three wise men) and some are in Luke's Gospel (the shepherds)! We then thought about why the two accounts are different, and the Gospel's audience and purpose .
Year 5 P.E. - Dodgeball!
Year 5 have been learning how to play dodgeball in P.E. It's been fast and furious and lots of fun! We have been building our teamwork and sportsmanship skills during these lessons.
Nursery - Literacy - Fine Motor Skills - Decorating The Christmas Tree
In Nursery class this week, we have been getting into the Christmas spirit! We got our Christmas tree out and an array of decorations for the children to hang on the tree. The children were encouraged to use a pincer grip to open the string on the baubles, perfect early practice for pencil grip! We also spoke about the colours that the children could see. Found big and small baubles. Discussed the shapes we could see. And spoke about the textures of the different decorations, shiny, sparkly, smooth, rough, fluffy... The children have loved rearranging the baubles throughout the week and admiring the different decorations.
Year 3 R.E. - Asking Important Questions About Religion and Beliefs
We looked at the image of the Vicar who had just been ordained by the Bishop. We discussed what it means to be ordained and the role that the Vicar has within the Church community. We then compared this with the role of a Rabbi in Judaism and the Imam in Islam.
Year 6 History - Evaluating Sources and Creating Viking Sagas
In history year 6 have been analysing sources relating to the Vikings to try and understand more about Viking society. We looked at images of helmets and coins, which show two different sides of Viking civilisation.
