World Book Day 2022
We will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March 2022! Children and teachers are invited to dress as a character or object from their favourite story! We have lots of fun on World Book Day each year, and this year is even more special as it celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Scholastic Book Fair
Next week the Scholastic Book Fair will be in school. Please pop into school to look at the books with your child from Thursday 22nd to Tuesday 27th September from 3.15 - 3.45pm. Payments for books will only be taken via a QR code system so be sure to bring your phone and bank details with you.
Home Reading Drop In
Home reading drop in, every Friday at 2.45pm. Tips, ideas and support with all aspects of home reading.
Scholastic Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair will be visiting St James from Wednesday 27th September until Tuesday 3rd October. There will be a chance to browse and purchase books from 3.30 till 3.45pm on school days during this time. Please come along to take a look. Please note: all transactions will be done electronically by phone.
World Book Day 2024
We will be celebrating World Book Day this year and the theme is 'snuggle up'. We will be inviting all children in to wear their Pyjamas and bring in a Teddy if they wish. There will be lots of activities throughout the day, so lots of fun to be had!
DSJ Reading Cafe!
Get ready for a special treat! We're thrilled to invite you to our very first Reading Café this Wednesday at 2:30 PM. Imagine stepping into a world of adventure and magic with your child, all through the wonderful power of stories! Sharing books together isn't just about reading words; it's about opening up whole new worlds of imagination and connection. Come along to the school office at 2:30 PM, and we'll guide you in to meet your child. You'll then have access to our cosy reading nooks, tables, and other delightful reading stations, creating the perfect setting to share stories and create lasting memories. We can't wait to welcome you and your child to this exciting event!
DSJ Beach Themed Reading Cafe
???????? DSJ Beach is open for one day only – and you’re invited! ???????? Get ready for a very exciting Beach-Themed Reading Café! Join us for stories, sunshine (hopefully!), and tasty refreshments as you relax and read with your child. The last café was packed – and this one’s set to be even better! ???? Thursday 9th July ???? 2.30pm ???? Come through the main office Bring your best beach vibes – sunhats, shades and all! ????️ Everyone’s welcome – including younger siblings. We can’t wait to see you there! ????????????
Christmas Reading Cafe
We’re getting into the festive spirit with our Christmas Reading Café! Families are invited to join us for an afternoon of cosy stories, simple activities, and a well-earned hot chocolate. We’ll also have a very special visitor… Father Christmas himself will be popping in to share a story with everyone. It’s all happening on Thursday 11 December at 2:30pm in the hall. We’d love to see you there and start the season with a bit of warmth and cheer.

Book Fair in School
We are delighted to announce that the Scholastic Book Fair is arriving at our academy soon! Reading for pleasure opens up a world of imagination, hope, and learning. Our book fair will feature hundreds of brilliant books to choose from—including popular series, inspiring non-fiction, graphic novels, and picture books. There really is something for every child and every reading age to enjoy!
